Nowhere in Mind

Steppin’ off the bus

in a strange new town.

Young and alone with nowhere in mind –

Where do I go from here?

Surrounded by smiles with a destination.

The July sun remindin’ me of home.

Summer the season

of freedom in my hometown.

Long gone from there,

mimicking the smiles I see.

Young and alone with nowhere in mind,

the devil in my dreams.

Willfulness mistaken for weakness.

One more soul up for grabs –

or so he thinks.

My soul not easily taken.

Still taken by surprise, and

still running straight back to hell.

Coward!

In those dreams

I’m strong and armed with conviction.

Looking for conviction now

in a street full of strangers.

Where do I go from here?

The road ahead seeming endless.

July’s sun unable to reach the cold.

Young and alone with nowhere in mind…

Time to get moving.

This poem is inspired by an earlier poem Autumn’s Sword . In this poem, it’s been just a few short months since Autumn has left home.

  1. Nicely done.
I love how you included the blurred images. Speaks to a sense of uncertainty and hope for clarity. Most dreams are unclear and we try to make sense of them when we awake.

Look forward to reading more of your work. Have a great day☺🌷
