I’ve decided to add a fitness category to my blog. I started working out as a teenager and I’ve been at it ever since. This is a brand new category, so it may take me a couple of posts to find my way. Right now, I’m looking at posting once a week.
I’ve always been interested in fitness, and I’ve tried countless exercises over the years. Through my fitness posts, I’ll be informally sharing some of my favorite exercises that work for me.
I may also share some of my fitness observations, triumphs and struggles. I’m also looking forward to your feedback, fitness suggestions and personal insights. I love discovering a new exercise that’s effective and safe.
Over the years, I’ve discarded many exercises that felt as though they did more harm than good. Listen to your body!
I’d like to kick off this series of blogs with the plank exercise. I’ve tried the plank many times over the years, but this is probably my first time committing to it. I’m now at 2 minutes and 30 seconds. I started at about 1 minute or so. I would start with whatever works for you and go from there. Slow and steady wins the race!
Although after watching the above video, I’ll be checking my technique, which is so important for best results and more importantly, for safety reasons. Safety first!
Right now, I do this exercise every second day, usually in the evening. I’ve always found that it helps a lot, to have a routine when it comes my workouts.
I also listen to music while doing the plank. Otherwise, it’s a long two minutes. I want to give up out of boredom.
I was once told that I must have way too much time on my hands if I work out daily – I take one day a week for rest. As you can imagine, I was a little offended.
For me, it’s not about having a lot of extra time, it’s about making that time for me. My family is use to my workouts, and know not to disturb me unless it’s really important 🙂
One song I like to listen to is ‘Simple Man’ by Lynyrd Skynyrd. It makes me want to keep going, just so I can finish listening 🙂
P.S. Please let me know what you think of my new category 🙂
