One Breath at a Time

Beautiful woman face. watercolor illustration

The freedom to be

loud, when I

need to be.

quiet, when I

need to be.

thin when there’s

nothing left.

bereft, but hard as nails.

meek, but not weak.

Patterned colored head of the lion. African / indian / totem / tattoo design. It may be used for design of a t-shirt, bag, postcard and poster.

strong-willed, but my words tempered.

On my own to choose.

-Choosing

what I dream.

-Choosing

what I need.

Memories still

keeping me busy

at night.

Tunnel of clouds

My nights Β still lonely,

but gettin’ shorter.

On my way back from hell.

Headin’ home

where the flowers stand tall and unbroken.

The mountains slowing me down.

taking

the long way ’round.

Taking

the time to breathe…

Now – outta my damn way!

    1. First of all, thank you for reading πŸ’œ This poem is part of a series that means a lot me πŸ’œ It’s inspired by someone very dear to me. All my images come from fotolia.com. The lion here is meant to symbolize the heart and will of the woman in the poem, and by extention, all women πŸ’œ
