Shared Memories

To Mom

Your smile Mom,

tells me I count.

Your smile tells me

I matter –

telling me what words

aspire to say.

Words uncalled-for Mom.

Your smile enough.

Red rose in the garden

Your face now matured,

witness to years toiled –

unfoiled by age.

Laugh lines earned over time,

etched deeper than last I saw you.

Sharing tears of pride as I wed,

walking beside me.

My arm in yours.

A shared moment of understanding –

shared memories unsaid.

Words uncalled-for Mom.

Your tears enough.

wild roses bush branches between tree branches

My face now maturing.

You reflected in me.

Your advice shared with my own.

You were right before me knowing –

not knowing how much

it would come to count –

not knowing how much

it would all matter.

Your smile Mom,

reflected in theirs.

    1. Thank you so much Cezane & Michelle! I love this one as well 🙂 I’ve been wanting to write this for a while now and I thought Mother’s Day was the perfect time. Thank you once again for your beautiful words and for dropping by!
